By Sybil Morneau If you have a high school diploma or a GED and are interested in learning medical terminology and nursing fundamentals, the CNA program will be a good fit for you. There is a certified training program required. You must also pass the Arizona CNA Certification Exam. The best news is that this program is only for six weeks. You will need to complete 120 hours of coursework and it must be with an approved program. You also have to show addition hands on training of 100 hours. These CNA Classes in Phoenix, AZ will cover human anatomy, how to control infections and medical ethics. In order to become a certified nursing assistant, you must score a minimum of 75% on the written exam and 80% on the practical. You will enjoy these classes if you are interested in the patient’s rights and privacy, learning more rehabilitation and emergency care. The program you choose must meet the approval of the program by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. Many students qualify for their education and training free by obtaining grants, job placement and with training agencies. Some places hold training at their facility and pay for the training. You can get paid training through Phoenix/Maricopa Workforce Connection. The Kivel Campus of Care on 36st and Thomas offers on the job CNA training. The Life Care Center in Glendale and the Life Care South Mountain take applications for on the job training. They also pay you and have their own full time doctor in the nursing home to take care of patients. Other programs can be found at the Glendale Community College, in Glendale, Arizona online at the University of Phoenix, and the Chandler-Gilbert Community College, located in Chandler Arizona. You can find an evening set up at the Grace Institute in Mesa and there is also an inexpensive program at the Southwest Skills center. You should also contact the State Board of Nursing for Arizona and ask if they are collaborating with any programs that offer free training. There are places that no longer offer a free program, but many of them will work out a payment plan with you if you can put some money down. They also offer day, evening and weekend classes.
