The admission to this school is pegged entirely on the outcome of the English and math placement exams offered by the college. According to the 2010 college statistics, five students graduated from the school with an LPN certificate. The LPN program training in this college takes one year and the student pays an average of $2,030 tuition fee per year. Other miscellaneous costs, such as supplies and coursework books can cost around $879 each year. The curriculum consists of three terms and covers personal relations, child health, maternity, human development and patient care. The absorption rate of LPNs in Hilo area is high since one out of three LPNs in Hawaii work in this area.

Kuai Community College

Kuai Community College is found in Lihue, which is located on the Kuai Island. Students hoping to join this college must complete the English and mathematics courses as well as pass a pre-admission nursing exam. They must also have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. The school boasts of having a 100 percent pass rate among all its students undertaking the state licensure exam since the academic year of 2003/2004. Kapiolani College

Kapiolani College is in Honolulu and has a population of around 8,200 students. The school is also a part of the Hawaii University system of schools and offers the LPN training program. Any student hoping to get admission in this college must first undertake a medical terminology course for 15 hours. They must also complete a nurse aide training course if they do not have any prior working experience as a nurse aide. Before enrolling for the LPN course, students must also get first aid and CPR certification. The LPN training in Kapiolani Community College takes one year to complete and the student will pay an average tuition of $1,956 every year. The program has two parts— clinical training and coursework and covers surgical nursing, geriatric, pediatrics and maternal health.
