By Sybil Morneau The state of Indiana requires certified nursing assistants to complete a state approved training program that includes a minimum of 30 hours of classroom study ad 75 hours of clinical training. 16 of those clinical hours must be directly supervised by a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse or a physician before the student can take part in the clinical rotation. Upon completion of the training program, graduates will be required to pass a written nurse’s aide competency test and a clinical skills test. Once the exam phase has been completed successfully, the students name will be added to the nursing registry and they are eligible for employment. CNA’s are required to work a minimum of 8 hours every two years at a certified healthcare facility in order to retain nurse’s aid certification.
