The job opportunities in the medical field continue to grow each year. In a short amount of time, you can earn your CNA certification and begin working in a rewarding career. There are many different ways to complete the training including taking courses at a community college, working with a nursing home program, or searching for free CNA classes in Maryland. In the state of Maryland, you must complete at least 100 hours of training to become a certified nursing assistant. Once the course work is completed, you will also need to pass the exam to finalize the program and get your certificate. If you are unable to afford the training, there are free classes available. One program is located at The Caroline Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The Center is able to provide classes and give certification to nursing students and is certified with the Maryland Board of Nursing. Course work will include classes in physiology and anatomy, caring for dementia patients, medical terminology and students will test for and receive a CPR certification. Once the program is completed, there are many nursing homes in the local area searching for qualified CNA’s who also provide the required internship for students. Once the program is completed, many of these nursing homes hire the internship students for full or part time employment Another free CNA program is through a partnership with Wor-Wic Community College and the Peninsula Regional Medical Center. This program begins with a testing process to find qualified applicants. Next, students will take classes at Wor-Wic Community College to meet the qualification for a certified nursing assistant. After completing the program, students will take the exam and upon passing the exam and background checks, a certificate will be awarded. There are many jobs available for CNA’s in Maryland which makes the career outlook bright. A final option for attending free CNA classes is by joining the Job Corps. There are two locations in the state of Maryland including Laurel and Woodstock. To complete the CNA program, it will take about four months, and if you are happy with the Job Corps setting, you could stay longer and get a certification as an LPN or a Certified Medical Assistant. There are specific requirements when entering the Job Corps including an age restriction. You will need to be between the ages of 18-24 years old. The great aspect of the Job Corps is receiving free training in addition to a living allowance and free medical and dental care. Although there are rules you will have to follow, this is a great way to get the CNA training you need to begin your medical career. A certified nurses aid provides general patient care in a variety of medical facilities. With basic course work, students can earn a certificate in a short amount of time and begin working and earning a paycheck. There are many facilities that are willing to pay for CNA training in return for a contract to work for the facility for a certain amount of time.
