This 13-week program is designed to prepare students for the national licensing exam (NCLEX-PN) and for a career in vocational nursing. The classroom curriculum includes four different learning modules: Introduction to Client-Centered Care, Care of the Client with Health Deviations I & II, Advanced Client-Centered Care and Nursing License Preparation. Some of the primary functions of an LPN include discussing care options with patients, ensuring patients comfort by assisting with routine daily tasks, keeping patient records and reporting directly to a supervising doctor or RN.
For students who are working full-time there is an evening/weekend program available and can be completed in 20 weeks. Graduating students can seek employment in skilled nursing facilities, home health care, doctors offices, hospitals, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or private practice. With LPN employment projected to grow 17% from 2016-2026 there will likely be many job openings for newly licensed vocational nurses.
