North Carolina RN Nursing Programs

A nursing career is a fun and fulfilling choice of employment. You will have the opportunity to help others and make a difference in people’s lives. North Carolina offers many different nursing programs. The average RN salary in North Carolina is $72,220 a year, or $35 an hour.

You can go to school part time or full time to complete an RN education program. Some of the programs are cohort based, which means that you will begin your nursing program with the same group of students and as colleagues, you will finish it together as well.

If you would like to become an RN in North Carolina you will need to complete a qualified nursing pre-licensure education program. There are three types of programs: ADN (associates degree in Nursing), BSN (bachelor of science in Nursing Degree), and Diploma/certificate programs. The difference between the two degrees is that an Associate’s Degree takes about two years to complete, and the Bachelor’s Degree is a four year program. Make sure you pick which degree is right for you, as they both have their benefits and downsides.

You also have the option in North Carolina to study in a classroom setting or an independent study program. Independent study offers a lot of flexibility if you have other demands on your time. It allows a bit more freedom from structure and to learn at your own speed in your own way, but the material is the same as taking classes in a regular class setting.

Be sure to also look into scholarships and grants. Getting a BSN could set you back as much as $20,000 a year for schooling. Tuition costs at a community college are much lower, around $3,000 per year.

There are many educational institutions in North Carolina that offer instruction for nursing. North Carolina has so many options for you to choose if this is the field you want to be in. There is also a lot of demand for nurses, so the prospects for employment are excellent and job security is often extremely high in the nursing field. As a nurse, you will be providing health care and health information to other people. This is an important job, and it’s not one that everyone can do.

The Chamberlain College of Nursing offers online education in Nursing. In Hickory, there is the Catawba Valley Community College Nursing Program. Sampson Community College in Clinton is another place you can go to get your RN education. The Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst is also a viable option. There are many institutions throughout North Carolina that offer nurse education programs that you shouldn’t have much difficulty finding a program near you. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s the right program for you, and remember that distance learning is also an option.
