In order to become a registered nurse in the state of Oklahoma, applicants must complete a qualified nursing education program and then pass a licensing exam. Registering for the licensing exam requires proof of US Citizenship and a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Degree (GED). Also, you need to furnish transcripts from the satisfactory completion a state-approved registered nursing program. The exam must be taken within 2 years of graduating or additional coursework may be required. Courses taken in an RN program must be both clinical and theoretical in nature and cover the following topics; Adult Health, Child Health, Maternal & Newborn Health, Mental and Psychiatric Health.

The average RN salary in Oklahoma is $62,170 a year, or $30 per hour. All candidates for the Registered Nurse Licensing Exam must submit to a criminal background check. In addition to this background check, candidates are obligated to disclose to the state any arrests, participation in any criminal investigations, or any other type of involvement in criminal activity whether or not it lead to a conviction. The decision of the State Commission is final and exclusive when it comes to deciding whether or not to accept an application based on criminal history.
