Comprehensive guide to CNA training and certification in South Dakota |
|
Every nurse aide in the state of South Dakota is required to hold a nursing assistant certification before landing a job. This is the new law passed by the federal regulations for the whole state. This is intended to make sure that every nursing aide working in the state is truly capable and knowledgeable on the job. The whole process to become certified is very simple, and nurse aide job openings are fairly plentiful once you become a certified nursing assistant. During the process of becoming a certified nursing assistant, students will take CNA training classes administered by an institution approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing. After taking the classes, a test will be given to certify that students have a strong grasp on the required knowledge. A physical fitness examination and criminal background scan will also be required, which is in accordance with the law. 16 hours of the 75-hour class will be conducted in a facility where you can learn while working. The procedures for the test are provided by the state board of nursing in collaboration with the Diversified Technologies or D&S. The CNA certification test may be taken at the end of the training program, and it starts with a written multiple choice section. The test will end with a skills section that will require students to demonstrate 5 of the 25 nurse aide skills that are required. Passing grade for the test is 25% incorrect. If this is achieved, you will be gain certification and will be given a space in the South Dakota Nurse Aide Registry. According to the reports made by the South Dakota Department of Labor, a 16.8% growth rate of nurse aide job openings is expected. The average CNA salary in South Dakota is $25,510 per year.
