The first section is comprised of 100 written multiple choice questions and candidates are allowed two hours to complete this portion of the exam. The second section is a hands-on skills test that requires the student to erform 5 essential nurse aide skills. The five skills will be chosen by the testing administrator from a list of 25 possible tasks. All 5 skills must be performed satisfactorily to achieve a passing score. The candidate is allowed 50 minutes to complete this portion of the exam. After earning CNA certification, an average CNA in West Virginia can earn approximately $19,800 per year. Current economic conditions and future forecasts predict demand for nursing assistants to increase during the next decade. If this demand is not met by an equal number of qualified CNAs to fill open positions, the average CNA salary might increase until we reach a point where labor supply equals demand. Individual CNA salary amounts depend on other factors such as employer, geographic location and number of years of experience.
